§ 75. Mr. Hardyasked the Secretary of State for Industry if it is now accepted by his colleagues in the Council of Ministers that there should be no further contraction of the United Kingdom's steel production capacity.
§ Mr. ButcherOur Community partners undoubtedly recognise the contribution that the United Kingdom industry has made on capacity reductions. It would, however, be premature for them to adopt a firm position on future capacity reductions, as the state aids decision (2320/81/ECSC) does not require the Commission to take final decisions on aid notifications and consequential capacity cuts until 30 June 1983.
