§ Mr. Skeetasked the Secretary of State for Industry what is the source of helium used in the United Kingdom, particularly in airships; and if he is aware of any plans to extract the gas from specific North Sea wells.
§ Mr. MacGregorTo the best of my knowledge, all helium used in the United Kingdom comes from the United States. A very small proportion of this is used in airships, possibly less than 1 per cent. I am unaware of any plans to extract the gas from any North Sea sources.
