§ Mr. Bennasked the Secretary of State for Wales what consultations have taken place with local authorities before or since the letter written by his Department on 13 October 1982 about the disposal of waste from the royal ordnance factory, Caerphilly road, Cardiff; and if he will publish the text of that letter and all the correspondence relating to this matter.
§ Mr. Wyn RobertsThe Welsh Office is consulted by the Ministry of Defence, which is responsible for the management of radioactive wastes from its establishments, about disposals from Ministry of Defence establishments and activities in Wales. In considering such proposals the Welsh Office is advised by the radiochemical inspectorate. Copies of the Welsh Office letter referred to by the right hon. Member were sent to the south Glamorgan county council and the Cardiff city council and a copy has been placed in the Library.
