HC Deb 04 February 1983 vol 36 c204W
Mr. Morgan

asked the Attorney-General in how many of the seven cases in which he has appeared for the prosecution since May 1979 the defendants have Pleaded guilty to the offences charged or lesser alternative charges and there has, in consequence, been no trial by jury.

The Attorney-General

Four.

Mr. Morgan

asked the Attorney-General on how many days he has actually appeared in court since May 1979 for the purposes of conducting prosecutions.

The Attorney-General

I have appeared in court on four separate days in respect of those four cases in which there was no trial by jury. The three other cases in which I have appeared for the prosecution occupied a total of 35 days. I appeared in court on most of those days.

Mr. Morgan

asked the Attorney-General whether he receives any remuneration additional to his ministerial stipend for conducting prosecutions in the courts.

The Attorney-General

I receive none.
