HC Deb 04 February 1983 vol 36 c209W
Mr. James Johnson

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what efforts he has made to ensure that the Government of Norway extend the 1982 licences for British vessels to fish north of latitude 62° in their territorial waters beyond 15 February; and what success he has had.

Mr. Buchanan-Smith

A meeting of European Community and Norwegian officials is to take place in Norway on 9 February to decide on the licensing arrangements that will apply from 15 February 1983.

I anticipate that arrangements will be agreed at this meeting so that reciprocal fishing, including fishing by United Kingdom vessels north of 62°N, can continue after that date-15 February.
