§ 22. Mr. Campbell-Savoursasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what progress has been made with his survey of the methods by which the variation between police forces in the use of cautioning in shoplifting cases may be reduced.
§ Mr. MayhewA survey was conducted last year of general cautioning practice and policy amongst police forces. The results of that survey are to be considered by a working group of officials and chief officers with a view to recommending a basis for more consistent and effective practice.
