§ Mr. Warrenasked the Secretary of State for Energy if he will delay British withdrawal from the Super-Sara study of pressurised water reactor failures funded by the European Community until the report on the cost effectiveness of the project has been produced.
§ Mr. John MooreThe Super-Sara project is part of the Community joint researh centre's current research programme and as such is financed entirely from Community funds. The United Kingdom could not therefore unilaterally withdraw from the project.
The research council of 8 February will consider the future direction of the JRC's programme. The United Kingdom contribution to the discussion will be made in the light of all available advice, including that by the three eminent scientists from France, Germany and Denmark on the cost-effectiveness of the Super-Sara project.
