HC Deb 03 February 1983 vol 36 c164W
45. Mr. Eastham

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how much money has been collected by his Department since naturalisation fees have been fixed at £200.

Mr. Waddington

The fees for naturalisation, and for registration at discretion under section 5A(2) of the British Nationality Act 1948, were raised to £200, and became payable with the application on 1 April 1982. Since that date and up to 31 December 1982 it is estimated that £1,045,000 has been received with new naturalisation applications and £771,000 with new applications for registration under section 5A(2). These totals include fees paid with applications where a wife has applied jointly with her husband at the combined fee of £270.
