§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether he will make a statement on his recent visit to educational establishments in the Norwich, Yarmouth and Cantley areas, ended on Friday 21 January, with particular reference to his visit to the Bignold middle school, Norwich, Lodge Lane school, Old Catton, Cantley primary school, and of the discussions which ensued with educational officers, councillors, children and parents.
§ Sir Keith JosephAlthough my programme included visits to three schools, its main purpose was to have informal discussions with the authority about educational performance in Norfolk. In the course of these discussions we were able to consider various aspects of educational provision, including the impact of falling pupil numbers and in service teacher-training arrangements. It was agreed that I would have a further meeting with the authority in about six months in order to review progress.
