§ Mr. Johnstonasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what steps Her Majesty's Government are taking to ratify the United Nations convention on the elimination of all forms of discrimination against women.
§ Mr. WhitneyThe convention was hastily drafted, and is of very broad scope. Departments are having to consider it in great detail in the light of our existing legislation. This process takes time. We hope to be able to announce a decision on ratification before long.
