§ Mr. Corbynasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will introduce measures to ensure that those remanded in custody in Northern Ireland are brought more speedily to trial.
§ Mr. ScottThere are no plans to change the existing arrangements under which those remanded in custody are brought to trial. All possible steps are taken at each stage of the criminal justice system to ensure the minimum delay between arrest and trial for those charged with offences in Northern Ireland. The Director of Public Prosecutions, the courts and the police continue to work towards this end.
