£ 1974–75 109,991 1975–76 109,012 1976–77 334,630 1977–78 359,424 1978–79 680,472 1979–80 709,071 1980–81 1,423,381 1981–82 2,170,813 1982–83 2,356,911 1983–84 2,550,236 Since 1979, £393,000 has been made available to the department of education, University College, Aberystwyth in support of a project undertaken or behalf of the Welsh Office, to produce Welsh language teaching materials for years 1.3 in secondary schools. In June 1983 the project was extended to cover years 4.5 and an additional £216,640 earmarked for this purpose.
Under section 21 of the Education Act 1980 the Welsh joint education committee has received grants totalling £448,275 since 1980–81. Of this amount about £387,000 has been in respect of its Welsh language text book scheme, the publication of materials produced by the Aberystwyth project team and associated staffing costs.
