§ Mrs. ChalkerThe new southbound carriageway of the M1 in Hertfordshire was constructed in concrete as a result of accepting the lowest of the competitive tenders received for alternative forms of construction in accordance with the Department's normal policy. I have no plans for changing this policy and it is likely therefore that some future motorway pavements will be constructed in concrete.
