§ 52. Mr. Lathamasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether he will make a statement on the financing of vocational courses, such as town and country planning at polytechnics, following recent discussions by the national advisory body.
§ Mr. BrookeAs my right hon. Friend announced yesterday, he has accepted the advice of the National Advisory Body on the disposition of academic provision110W in local authority higher education and its associated funding in 1984–85. The plans embody a rationalisation of some expensive and highly specialised subjects, such as town and country planning, where there is evidence of over-supply of qualified manpower. The allocation of resources in respect of continuing provision in these, as of other subjects, is based on the number and relative cost of the students involved.
