§ Mr. NewtonThe central office of the Department of Health and Social Security in Scotland is engaged in a project to translate leaflets SB1 — claim to Supplementary Benefit—and "Which Benefit", a guide to Social Security Benefits, into Gaelic. The intention of the project is to test the usefulness of leaflets in Gaelic. There are considerable regional variations within the Gaelic language and Central Office are having difficulty in finding a translation acceptable in all Gaelic-speaking areas.
