§ Mr. Gryllsasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will estimate the impact on employment in (a) pharmaceutical research and (b) pharmaceutical manufacturing of his statement to the House on 8 December on the pharmaceutical industry.
§ Mr. Kenneth ClarkeIt will take some time for companies to assess the financial effects of the new measures. We do not anticipate any significant change in employment in either research or manufacturing. There may be some reduction in the number of staff now employed in sales promotion activities.
