HC Deb 19 December 1983 vol 51 c66W
Mr. Alfred Morris

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will list the various extensions of time for comment on the Oglesby report given to different organisations; if he will now give a common extension until 15 January to all organisations; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Newton

The Oglesby report was sent to a lumber of organisations on 17 November 1983 inviting their comments by 14 December. Other organisations have subsequently asked for an opportunity to comment and have therefore been sent copies of the report. We have agreed to a number of requests from organisations for extensions to the deadline of one or two weeks as necessary to allow them more time to study the report. We have no wish to prevent organisations wishing to comment within a reasonable time scale from doing so and I can assure the right hon. Member that comments received by 15 January 1984 will be taken into account.
