HC Deb 19 December 1983 vol 51 cc35-6W
Sir John Biggs-Davison

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what were the circumstances of Mr. Antony Rushford's brief tenure of the office of legal adviser in Grenada.

Mr. Whitney

Mr. Rushford was recruited and paid by the Commonwealth Secretariat to act as constitutional adviser to the Governor-General of Grenada. He was subsequently appointed Attorney-General and became ex officio a member of the Governor-General's Advisory Council. We understand he resigned his post on 4 December. We were not involved in or consulted about Mr. Rushford's appointment.
