§ Mr. Gryllsasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he intends issuing a new White Paper on restrictive trade practices following the Government's 1979 Green Paper, Cmnd. 7512, on this subject; and if he will make a statement of his policy on monopolies and mergers.
§ Mr. Alexander FletcherCmnd. 7512 concluded that the restrictive trade practices legislation had been generally effective and had served the country well. I have no plans at present to issue a White Paper on the subject. I am currently reviewing our policy on monopolies and mergers.
