Population estimates are made for mid-years. The estimated increase in the numbers of residents of England and Wales aged 75 or over are 79,100 between mid-1979 and mid-1980, 71,800 between mid-1980 and mid-1981, and 74,600 between mid-1981 and mid-1982.
