§ Mr. John PattenThe number of patients awaiting treatment by dialysis is not recorded centrally. The number awaiting a kidney transplant in the United Kingdom was 2,437 on 30 November 1983. A record total of 1,030 kidney transplants were performed in 1982 and figures so far suggest that this will be exceeded in 1983.
