HC Deb 13 December 1983 vol 50 c427W
37. Mr. Dalyell

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is his latest assessment of the waiting lists for kidney dialysis.

Mr. John Patten

The number of patients awaiting treatment by dialysis is not recorded centrally. The number awaiting a kidney transplant in the United Kingdom was 2,437 on 30 November 1983. A record total of 1,030 kidney transplants were performed in 1982 and figures so far suggest that this will be exceeded in 1983.
