HC Deb 13 December 1983 vol 50 c417W
Mr. Craigen

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what was the average subsidy, excluding rent and rate rebates, to new towns, Scottish Special Housing Association and housing association tenants in 1979–80, 1980–81, 1981–82, 1982–83 and 1983–84 respectively.

Mr. Ancram

[pursuant to the reply, 30 November 1983, c. 527.]: The information requested is as follows:

Year New Towns £ Scottish Special Housing Association £
1979–80 569 340
1980–81 615 328
1981–82 611 286
1982–83 619 279
1983–84* 628 245
* Estimated.

Because of the fundamentally different basis of housing association grant, it is not practicable to provide comparative figures in the form above. I am writing to the hon. Member about this point.
