HC Deb 12 December 1983 vol 50 c312W
Mr. Andrew F. Bennett

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how many teachers who have taken early retirement are now re-employed in pan-time or temporary teaching posts.

Mr. Dunn

Figures have been collected only since 1 April this year and only in respect of teachers who re-enter pensionable service. Since April, 40 teachers who had retired prematurely have obtained re-employment on a full-time basis; and 164 on a part-time basis. In 1982–83 some 9,500 teachers retired early on premature retirement terms.
