HC Deb 12 December 1983 vol 50 c371W
Mr. Gareth Wardell

asked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will publish in the Official Report the location of those centres for neonatal intensive care directed by a consultant paediatrician who is exclusively or mainly concerned with neonatal medicine; and what is the corresponding proportion of trained nursing staff at those centres who have satisfactorily completed Joint Board of Clinical Nursing studies courses in the special and intensive care of babies.

Mr. Wyn Roberts

There are no centres in Wales designated for neonatal intensive care. All but one of the health authorities in Wales have one or more special care baby units under the direction of consultant paediatricians. Information is not held centrally on the proportion of nursing staff at such units who have completed a relevant study course.
