HC Deb 12 December 1983 vol 50 c304W
Mr. McQuarrie

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will make it his policy to resist common agricultural policy proposals on animal health regulations if they adversely affect current United Kingdom animal health standards; and if he will make a statement.

Mrs. Fenner

The Government will continue to play an active part in discussions in the animal health context about European Community proposals to control disease or on trade. They will maintain their policy of seeking arrangements in relation to foot and mouth disease and other diseases which would not reduce the animal health status of this country.
