§ Mr. Proctorasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will give details of the formal programmes carried out by the wife of the hon. Member for Edinburgh, Pentlands, during their recent visit to Zimbabwe and South Africa.
§ Mr. RifkindMy wife's formal programme in Zimbabwe included calls on the Minister of Community Development and Women's Affairs, Blair research laboratory, Harare central hospital, the British-Zimbabwe society and Inyanga hospital. In South Africa she met Mrs. Motlana of the Black Housewives League and Mrs. Duncan of Black Sash. She also visited the British Council office, the University of South Africa and centres for the aged and handicapped. In Soweto, she visited churches, a nurses training college and self-help and community organisations.
