§ Mr. MooreThe yield in a full year at 1983–84 levels from taxing benefits paid to the unemployed is estimated at about £675 million. On the illustrative assumptions contained in the autumn statement and the report by the Government Actuary*, the yield in a full year at 1984–5 levels would be about £725 million.
