§ Mr. Gouldasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what action has been taken on the conclusions of the programme analysis review on tourism in 1973–74 in so far as they concern the economic return to the public at large of the expenditure of public funds on (a) the hotel development incentive scheme, (b) overseas tourist promotion and (c) other subsidies to tourism promotion.
§ Mr. Norman LamontI understand that the programme analysis review on tourism was submitted to the then Government in 1974. It has not been made public and, in accordance with practice, it has not been available to subsequent Governments. I am therefore unable to comment on the findings of that review or any subsequent action that may have been taken by the Government of the day.
