§ Mr. Gwilym Jonesasked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will give guidance to county councils on the introduction of ride-sharing information pools for commuters.
§ Mrs. ChalkerMy Department has conducted a considerable programme of research into the scope for increased ride-sharing. Several schemes were set up in collaboration with county councils and the results of these studies have been made available to all local authorities. It was concluded that ride-sharing was probably best initiated at the workplace and we have issued advice and guidance to employers on how to set up such schemes.
