HC Deb 06 December 1983 vol 50 c133W
Mr. Park

asked the Prime Minister whether Her Majesty's Government have any proposals to introduce legislation to prevent discrimination against disabled persons in any particular contexts.

Mr. Biffen

I have been asked to reply.

The Government are not convinced that general legislation against discrimination is appropriate or practicable in this field, but are taking numerous steps to help overcome particular practical problems which may face some disabled people, for example, in relation to employment opportunities, transport facilities and access to public buildings.
