§ Mr. Redmondasked the Secretary of State for Employment how many trainees at Doncaster skillcentre are currently sponsored by employers; and what is the total number of trainees sponsored by employers who have received training at the Doncaster skillcentre.
§ Mr. Peter MorrisonAt 1 December four trainees at Doncaster skillcentre were currently sponsored by their employers. Since April 1978, 671 trainees have completed periods of training at the Doncaster skillcentre under sponsored training arrangements.

Friend the then Secretary of State for Employment announced on 21 January the Government's decision to set up the skillcentre training agency as a separate entity within the Manpower Services Commission. The agency will be operating on a full trading account basis from April 1984 and its operations will subsequently be determined by the scale and nature of the business it can attract.
