HC Deb 05 December 1983 vol 50 c67W
Mr. Alan Howarth

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services why, between 15 and 22 November, 10 separate envelopes containing Press releases were despatched from Alexander Fleming House by first-class post to the Stratford-on-Avon Herald; and if, in the interests of reducing public expenditure, he will take steps to ensure that more economical procedures are introduced.

Mr. John Patten

Between 15 and 22 November, 13 press notices were sent from Alexander Fleming House to theStratford-on-Avon Herald in 10 envelopes. Our policy on issuing press notices is to send them by first-class post as soon as possible because the media need them quickly. We are reviewing the current list of recipients of Departmental press notices to see whether savings can be made among people who no longer need them.
