§ Mr. Onslowasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department when he expects that the hearing of the appeal of the Laldenga family against the refusal of asylum in the United Kingdom will now begin.
§ Mr. WaddingtonI understand from the independent immigration appellate authorities — which are solely responsible for arranging appeal hearings — that the appeal of Mr. Laldenga and his family has been listed for hearing on 4 January 1984. Mr. Laldenga was informed of the date by the appellate authorities on 18 November. We understand, however, that Mr. Laldenga's representatives have requested an adjournment to a later date.
