§ 42. Mr. Bellinghamasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will review the operation of summer time and consider adopting the same time and dates of change as are used in most other European Community countries, to facilitate trade and meetings between business people within the Community as well as to make better use of available daylight.
§ Mr. MellorThere is a common starting date for summer time within the Community and further discussions are to take place in 1985 about a common ending date. In the meantime we think the balance of opinion in the United Kingdom remains in favour of the present later ending date in the autumn.
