asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will state the incidence of TB cases notified during the last three years for England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland, and also say whether there has been an increase of notifications in the East End of London.

New notification recommendations operating in England and Wales from January 1982 advised that deaths involving tuberculosis, where notification had not been previously made, should be included in the statistics. For comparability, notifications after death in Scotland have been excluded from the figures for 1980 (42) and 1981 (54) but included for 1982 (45).
