HC Deb 28 April 1983 vol 41 c417W
Mr. Nicholas Winterton

asked the Secretary of State for Employment whether he has had any representations, and if so from whom, about the European Community draft directive on noise (Cmnd. (82) 646 final).

Mr. Gummer

My right hon. Friend has received representations from several hon. Members from the Glass Manufacturers Federation, the National Federation of Building Trades Employers, and from the Engineering Employers Federation.

The Health and Safety Commission is continuing to collect comments from the Confederation of British industry, the Trades Union Congress and other interested parties with a view to submitting advice on this proposed directive. One of the great advantages of European Community legislation is the way in which it promotes constructive public discussion of this kind. The HSC is aware of the representations to which I have referred and will take them into account.
