In 1981–82, there were 76,000 students in the United Kingdom universities studying biological, physical or mathematical sciences at undergraduate or postgraduate levels. A further 56,000 students were studying engineering, agriculture, veterinary science and architecture. Information for 1982–83 is not yet available.
