HC Deb 26 April 1983 vol 41 cc283-4W
Mr. Budgen

asked the Minister for Trade whether he will make a statement on the investigation being carried out by the European Commission into the dumping of steel coils.

Mr. Peter Rees

Investigations into the dumping of certain steel coils originating in Brazil, Argentina, Venezuela and Canada have been completed and the findings published in Official Journal No. L82 of 29 March 1983. Commission decision 702/83/ECSC imposed provisional anti-dumping duties for products originating in all four countries. The duty does not apply to two Canadian manufacturers—Dofasco Inc. and Sidbec-Dosco Ltd.—since the Commission has accepted price undertakings from these companies. The provisional duties are to apply for a period of four months, unless definitive measures are adopted before that period expires. Parties concerned have one month in which to make known their views to the Commission.

A copy of this decision, which has direct effect, has been placed in the Library of each House.
