HC Deb 26 April 1983 vol 41 cc310-1W
Rev. Ian Paisley

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland whether the proceeds from schools sold off as a result of rationalisation in Northern Ireland will be paid directly to the education and library board which has made the sale to be used for whatever purpose the relevant board decides.

Mr. Scott

At present boards may retain individual receipts from the sale of property up to £1,000, any receipt which exceeds £1,000 is remitted to the Consolidated Fund. These arrangements are currently under review with the aim of supplementing boards' capital programmes by the retention of some or all receipts from the sale of property.
