HC Deb 26 April 1983 vol 41 c276W
Q16. Mr. Latham

asked the Prime Minister whether she will make a statement on the information so far given to Her Majesty's Government by the United States Administration about the progress of the separate disarmament negotiations currently taking place in Geneva for reductions of strategic nuclear weapons and regarding intermediate nuclear forces and on the extent to which the United States Government consult their allies, including the United Kingdom, on its negotiating position.

The Prime Minister

Consultations between us and the United States Administration over both sets of bilateral nuclear arms control negotiations in Geneva are very close. In the INF negotiations, Ambassador Nitze's position is agreed in advance by the alliance as a whole. On strategic arms control, we make full use of the regular NATO consultative meetings about the START talks, and of our bilateral discussions with the United States Administration
