§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many British citizens and British passport holders from other Commonwealth countries were refused entry to the United Kingdom in the month ended on 13 March.
§ Mr. WaddingtonBritish citizens are not subject to immigration control and cannot be refused entry to the United Kingdom. Statistics of those refused leave to enter are compiled only for calendar months and figures for other periods could be provided only at disproportionate cost. Information on the annual number of passengers refused admission is published each year in "Control of immigration statistics" (latest issue, Cmnd. 8533, for 1981, table 1). The number of United Kingdom passport holders refused leave to enter during February 1983 was three.
