§ 27. Mr. Dykesasked the Secretary of State for Transport when he expects to give new guidelines to local authorities for receiving their local protection orders against heavy lorries under the Heavy Commercial Vehicles (Controls and Regulations) Act 1973.
§ Mr. EyreI assume that my hon. Friend's question refers to reviews of local authority schemes. My Department's circular 2/82, which was published last April, urged county councils to take a fresh look at the lorry controls in force in their areas with a view to124W introducing further restrictions where they are needed. It is for the authorities themselves to decide how this survey should be carried out.
