§ Mr. Meacherasked the Minister for Trade what are the figures for the percentages of the workers employed by British companies in South Africa who are paid below the lower datum level, given in table 4 of the analysis and summary of companies' reports submitted under Cmnd. 7233 as 2.5 per cent. for 1978 and 1 per cent. for 1982, to the nearest 0.01 per cent.
§ Mr. Peter Rees[pursuant to the reply, 15 April 1983, c. 478]: The lack of information in some companies' reports, and the variations in the lower datum level between different localities and during the period covered 21W by the reports, make it impossible to calculate the percentages with the degree of precision requested by the hon. Member.
