§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether all British Members of the European Assembly are charged tax on their free travel warrants and expenses when travelling to and from their home to place of assembly; and whether the same rules apply and on the same basis as those appertaining to Members of the House of Commons
§ Mr. RidleyUnder a ruling of the European Court of Justice the reimbursement by the European Parliament of reasonable travel expenses incurred by its Members in travelling between their homes and the place of assembly does not give rise to a taxable emolument. That ruling does not apply to Members of this House.
