§ Mr. Spearingasked the Secretary of State for Transport what plans he has for introducing BS 6102 concerning the standards of construction and certain accessories for bicycles; and what consultations he has had with representative cycling bodies concerning the date of statutory introduction.
§ Mrs. ChalkerI shall be laying regulations in May to require new bicycles to meet BS 6102. I have consulted all the main organisations representing cyclists, the cycle manufacturers and traders, and I shall be proposing the shortest practicable period before the regulations come into effect.
