HC Deb 28 October 1982 vol 29 c535W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will take whatever action may prove necessary to ensure that Mr. John De Lorean, an American citizen awaiting trial in the United States of America for an alleged drug smuggling offence, is not allowed to enter the United Kingdom until such time as his trial is concluded or he has received clearance to leave the United States of America.

Mr. Raison

In the hypothetical situation envisaged, the immigration officer would consider an application for entry by Mr. De Lorean on its merits and in accordance with the immigration rules.
