HC Deb 28 October 1982 vol 29 cc534-5W
Mr. Fairbairn

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is the cost per patient week of an in-patient in the Cottage hospital, Crieff, Saint Margaret's, Auchterarder, Ninewells hospital, Dundee, and Perth Royal infirmary.

Mr. John MacKay

From the information supplied by Tayside health board, and which will be published in "Scottish Health Service Costs", the costs in 1981–82 are as follows:

Hospital Cost per in-patient week £
Crieff Cottage 262.04
St. Margaret's 38.75
Ninewells 640.03
Perth RI 595.75

Hospitals in Scotland are grouped for costing purposes into 44 classifications which reflect their differing functions; and it is not realistic to make comparisons between hospitals in different groups. Of the four hospitals above, only two, Crieff cottage and St. Margaret's, are in the same functional group.
