§ Mr. Kenneth Carlisleasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if the cash limit on the overseas aid vote will be increased to cover the costs of rehabilitation work in the Falkland Islands.
§ Mr. Neil MartenI told the House on 29 July—[Vol. 28, c. 6471—of our intention to make up to £10 million available for rehabilitation in the Falklands. I now expect about £8.6 million to be spent this year. Of this, £3 million will be found from within the existing aid programme and the balance will come from the central Contingency Reserve. Subject to Parliamentary approval of the necessary supplementary estimate, the cash limit for the Overseas Aid Vote (Class II, Vote 10) is therefore being increased by £5,600,000 from £926,452,000 to £932,052,000.
