HC Deb 28 October 1982 vol 29 c562W
Mr. Alfred Morris

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what consideration he has given to the report of the inquiry set up by the Association of Councillors into support services for councillors; if there is any action he will be taking; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. King

[pursuant to his reply, 27 October 1982]: It is for local authorities to consider what are the appropriate support services for members in the light both of this report and of the need for restraint in public expenditure. The report's recommendations are, of course, addressed to local authorities and do not call for any action by my right hon. Friend.
