§ Mr. Ernie Rossasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will provide funds to housing authorities seeking to remove asbestos from housing structures, both internally and externally; and if he will provide similar funds to the Scottish Special Housing Association, private tenants and owner-occupiers.
§ Mr. Allan StewartFunds allocated to local authorities and the SSHA already take account of any need to deal with asbestos in their housing stocks. I have received no evidence that any special allocation of funds is required to enable authorities to provide grants to owner-occupiers or private tenants in appropriate cases.
